C-picture

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A C-image is an echo height image of a workpiece created during the ultrasonic test , a projected image of the sizes of the flaws.

There are 8 colors available in the examples on this page. Each color represents a different reflection quantity.

The disc shown is a 10 cm thick cylinder that was sounded through to the rear wall . Yellow> 0.4 mm, red> 0.6 mm and blue is greater than 0.8 mm

  • Green is the normal structure of the material.
    • Fine, dark green.
    • Less fine, light green.
  • Yellow is still permitted, but a good color difference to the next level, red.
  • Red corresponds to the first display size that has to be logged, but still does not necessarily lead to the component being rejected.
  • In these examples, blue in a component means reject.

On this picture you can see a bad ( inhomogeneous ) structure and large defects (blue). Here you can see a
homogeneous structure , but also two places that lead to rejects. This is the enlargement of image two.

The C-scan in the multi-zone test
This test is much more accurate. The test is not permitted below 256 colors. Here one compares the color areas with each other and creates a homogeneity profile, the "SNR".
