CS Prakash

Channapatna Sundar Prakash is an Indian molecular biologist . He is a professor at Tuskegee University .

Life

Prakash studied agricultural science and genetics at the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore ( BS , 1977 and MS , 1979). His Ph.D. in forest science he received in 1985 from the Australian National University . He then went to the University of Kansas as a postdoc for three years . He has been at Tuskegee University since 1989.

Prakash's interests are food crops of importance to developing countries . Prakash established the green genetic engineering research and education program at Tuskegee University, known for its research on sweet potato and peanut . Prakash also actively campaigned to anchor the topic of "green genetic engineering" in public opinion.
