COUNTER (e-media)

COUNTER is the most widely used standard for counting the use of electronic media . The acronym stands for C ounting O nline U say of N e t worked E lectronic R esources. The COUNTER standard is being developed by a non-profit organization of the same name , which is supported by libraries, publishers and dealers in electronic media.

COUNTER Release 5 (R5)

Release 5 (R5) of the COUNTER standard has been in effect since January 2019. In R5, usage statistics can be delivered either in Excel table form, as a TSV file or as a JSON file . JSON and TSV files must be encoded in UTF-8 .
