tasks
In contrast to the United Kingdom , where the Cabinet Office has more similar tasks and powers to the New Zealand Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet , the Cabinet Office in New Zealand supports and prepares the decision-making processes of the government.
The Cabinet Office provides support on the basis of the so-called Cabinet Manual , a manual for binding government action and its decision-making processes
- the Prime Minister ,
- the Cabinet and its ministers,
- the governor-general ,
- the respective Cabinet Committees (cabinet committees),
- and the Executive Council .
Another task of the Cabinet Office is to support and administer the New Zealand Royal Honors System with its numerous honors every year. The office is also an important communication interface between the government and the governor general.
