history

The church is first mentioned in a document in 1439. In 1497 the consecration of a church is mentioned. The construction of today's late baroque church took place between 1775 and 1779, supposedly according to plans by Franz Singer and master mason Weiskopf. Contrary to the previous opinion, Klaus Aman does not assign the parish church of Grins to Franz Singer in his 262-page dissertation from 2002.

architecture

Exterior description

The church is a late baroque hall building. From the late Gothic building, which was consecrated in 1497, the tower is still preserved today, which was incorporated into the main facade of the south-facing church. The church tower is slightly protruding and has two-lane sound windows with tracery and pointed arches . The tower is covered with a pyramid helmet. The church is divided into three parts by a retracted central yoke and a retracted choir yoke. The end of the choir is flat and rounded. There is a flat gable roof over the nave . Two arched windows are combined by thermal bath windows above . There is a fluted round arch portal on both sides of the tower . The western one shows the year 1779 on the capitals .

Furnishing

The altars were erected in the classicism style around 1840. The high altar picture bears the artist's insignia "F (ranz) A. Pig., 1862" and shows St. Nicholas kneeling in front of Mary . The baroque statues from 1723 are documented by Andreas Kölle . They represent the Saints Peter , Paul , Georg and Florian . In the gable is a Madonna relief by Franz Xaver Renn from around 1840.

On the left side altar is a "Maria Immaculata" statue from the end of the 19th century. This is flanked by baroque statues of St. Catherine and St. Ursula . These also come from the hand of Andreas Kölle. The relief in the gable shows " Queen Esther before Ahasver ".

On the right side altar is a statue of St. Joseph from the end of the 19th century. This is flanked by baroque figures of St. John the Baptist and Laurentius , also by Andreas Kölle.

The rococo pulpit was built around 1780. Putti are depicted on the basket with symbols of faith, hope and love . On the cover there are figures of Saints Peter and Paul. In glass shrines are an enthroned Madonna figure in the Mariahilf type and a group of guardian angels by Franz Xaver Renn from 1840.

The lecture cross and the crucifix date from the 18th century. An oval picture from the end of the 18th century shows Maria Immaculata and one from the middle of the 19th century shows Saint Aloisius . The three processional flags were created around 1780, the stations of the cross in the fourth quarter of the 18th century. The baptismal font from 1780 stands on a Gothic base. The pews are late baroque.

organ

The baroque organ case by Johann Anton Fuchs has a positive balustrade and dates from the end of the 18th century. The old movement was made by Karl Reinisch in 1914. The main case was expanded. In 1988 it was replaced by an organ from Rieger Orgelbau .
