The cafisse was a volume and grain measure in North Africa . Other names were Caffis , Catisse and Casisse . The cafisse corresponded to about 5 to 6 bushels and in Algiers it was one of the dimensions tolerated after March 1, 1843. The date was the day of the introduction of French weights and measures.
