from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The caipora or caapora is a figure from the Tupí - Guarani - mythology of the Amazon region of Brazil . He protects the animals of the forest from the stalking of the hunters. He appears as a small, dark-skinned, very hairy Indian who rides a peccary and always asks people who meet him for tobacco for his pipe. If he does not receive one, he is in the mood for malicious pranks. Other defenders of the nature of the Amazon are the curupira and the white deer Appendixá .
