Camt format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Camt format is the standardized XML data transmission format defined by SEPA for exchange between banks and customers. Its use has been mandatory since 2014. The format replaces SWIFT - EDIFACT formats.

use

camt is the abbreviation for “cash management”. The information files are made available to business customers automatically or on demand by the banks' electronic banking systems. These formats are usually not available in online programs for private customers. These files can then be read and processed by financial accounting programs. By specifying detailed information such as the bank details of the other side of the booking, mandate ID and EndToEndId, the assignment of payments to open items is easier than with the old formats or the other export options in CSV files.

Message types

A distinction is made between the following camt messages:

  • camt.052: intraday account statements, reserved items (previously MT942 file)
  • camt.053: posted account statements (previously MT940 and MT950 files)
  • camt.054: Details on collective bookings (previously DTI)
  • camt.056: Recall in the transfer system in the event of errors and irregular transactions
