Canada's Sugar Beach is a sandy beach in Toronto , Ontario , Canada that opened in 2010. The beach has an area of ​​approx. 8,100 m² and is located on Toronto's eastern bayfront, on Lake Ontario , in the vicinity of a former sugar factory, in a new district that is currently being developed, Waterfront Toronto . The beach is operated by the City of Toronto . This also includes the HTO Park , which opened in 2010 . The whole complex includes a fine sandy beach with parasols and loungers.

history

The aim was to redesign the former industrial area and to relocate apartments, shops, restaurants, offices and hotels. The park is divided into three parts and separates the beach from the adjoining sugar factory area, with a museum on Lower Jarvis Street and Queen's Quay. The beach and the park got their name from the nearby sugar factory building.
