Cape foot

Cape foot was an English unit of length and was used to survey land.

The measure was introduced to South Africa by Dutch settlers in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and was in force until the introduction of the metric system. In 1859, Cape foot became mandatory by law in the Cape Colony, South Africa. By setting the international foot at exactly 0.3048; corresponds to:
