The Cappella Maria SS. Della Soledad is a Roman Catholic church building in Palermo .

The chapel in Piazza della Vittoria was originally part of the 15th century Church of San Demetrio, which was destroyed by bombing in 1943. The chapel was built in 1590 by a brotherhood of Spanish nobles ( Confraternità Maria Santissima Addolorata e Cristo Morto de la Soledad ).

In 1679 the interior was redesigned in Baroque style by the architect Paolo Amato , who also created the three arches of the sanctuary, which are supported by two dark columns. The stucco work comes from Andrea Surfarello. The ceiling frescoes by Francesco Calamuneri have been lost. Olivio Sozzi painted the four panels: the washing of the feet, the Lord's Supper, Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane and the erection of the cross.

Some marble reliefs from the 17th century with the tools of Christ's passion have been preserved . The rest of the marble decoration was designed by Venanzio Marvuglia in the 18th century. The wooden statue of the Virgin Mary from the 16th century above the altar, venerated by the faithful, points to a Spanish origin. Grave slabs of Spanish families are embedded in the floor.

The chapel, now part of the Police Headquarters building, is owned by the Spanish state.
