Captain Canuck is a Canadian comic - superhero . Created by the artists Ron Leishman and Richard Comley , the first comic with Captain Canuck appeared in Captain Canuck No. 1 in July 1975.

Captain Canuck wears a maple leaf costume and represents a Canadian agent . He leads the country, described as the futuristic world of 1993, as the strongest world power in the future.

The first edition appeared in 1975, the magazine was published by Comely Comix in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The story was based on Tom Evans, a Canadian secret agent who acquired superhuman powers through a meeting with aliens. This first of the Canadian superheroes appeared in 14 issues that ended in 1981. They were drawn mainly by George Freeman, who was replaced by Richard Comley.

After the original appeared, there were two follow-up editions. Richard Comley released a second version under the Semple Comics brand in 1993 . Reborn as Darren Oak, Captain Canuck fights a worldwide conspiracy. This title was published in four editions and was drawn by Richard Comely, Leonard Kirk and Sandy Carruthers. This edition continued as a daily newspaper version for a while.

A subsequent version, published by Comely but written and drawn by brothers Riel and Drue Langlois, appeared in 2004 entitled Captain Canuck: Unholy War . Another character takes center stage: Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable David Semple. The focus of these issues was the encounter between Captain Canuck and a motorcycle gang called Unholy Avengers. Unholy War was one of three editions; the third and final was released in January 2005.

Another Captain Canuck series was released in the fall of 2005 under the name Captain Canuck Legacy . This story consisted of two different stories: One described in detail the efforts that Captain Canuck is making to keep illegal weapons out of Canada, while the second presented the experiences of the third Captain Canuck in chronological order.
