Caption

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word caption (kæpʃn) describes the caption of a control element in computer science . This property is not to be confused with the name of the control. The most common application of this property is found with labels , but windows, menu items and other objects also use them. As a rule, the property is assigned a value of the type String ; some programming languages, such as Visual Basic, also convert the value automatically if necessary. The use of the "&" character plays a special role in many programming languages: If this character is written in front of another, the latter appears underlined and the user can then call up the control element with the appropriate key ( shortcut ).
