Carnegie Public Library (Tyler)
The Carnegie Public Library (now: Carnegie History Center ) is a former library building in the Texan city of Tyler . It was built in 1904 in the city center, southwest of the town square. The construction was made possible by a donation from the steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie , whose name it bears. After the library was rebuilt, the building has housed the Smith County Historical Society's museum and archive since 1984 .
The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 26, 1979 .
