Carobe (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carobe was a French commercial weight and was one of the smallest measures.

The term also describes the carob tree , the seeds of which have been used as a measure of weight for diamonds since ancient times . The weight of the grains is relatively constant around 200 milligrams . The well-known measure of carat (1 ct = 0.2 g) also has its origin here.

  • 1 carob = 1/24 of a grain = 2.213 milligrams
  • 24 carobes = 1 grain = 53.1148 milligrams
