Cassegrain [ kɑsˈɡʀɛ̃ ] stands for

  • Sieur Guillaume Cassegrain (1625–1712), French sculptor
  • Laurent Cassegrain (approx. 1629–1693; also referred to in literature as Guillaume, Jaques, Nicolas, Jean or Giovanni), Catholic priest and high school teacher at the Collège de Chartres, is considered to be the inventor of the Cassegrain telescope
