Castello di Cefalà Diana

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Castello di Cefalà Diana is a castle on a hill northwest of the municipality of Cefalà Diana in the metropolitan city of Palermo in Sicily .

The fort was built around 1120 under King Roger II. Today only ruins remain. The best preserved is a square defense tower on the highest part of the site in the northwest of the castle hill. Some smaller rooms with barrel vaults on the outer wall have also been preserved. The main courtyard is paved with stone slabs.

It was not until the 17th century that today's town of Cefalà Diana was built next to the castle hill.
