Castle Air Museum

The Castle Air Museum is an aviation museum in Atwater, California . Opened in 1981, the museum exhibits over 70 restored military aviation aircraft.

Exhibits (selection)

The open-air museum extends over 45,000 m² and is attached to the former Castle Air Force Base . The museum was named after Frederick Walker Castle , an American brigadier general in World War II. Exhibition highlights include a Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, a Boeing B-52D Stratofortress, and a Convair RB-36H Peacemaker.

An indoor museum displays equipment, photos, uniforms, war memorabilia, and aircraft engines. A group of volunteers is restoring and servicing the aircraft on display. The museum regularly hosts an open house where visitors can tour the interior of certain aircraft.
