Cathedral of The Isles

The Cathedral of The Isles is an episcopal cathedral in the Scottish village of Millport on Great Cumbrae Island . She is a member of the Scottish Episcopal Church . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A. The complex structure with adjoining seminary is on the northern outskirts of Millport off College Street . Along with St John's Cathedral , it is one of two cathedrals within the diocese.

history

Construction of the church building to a design by architect William Butterfield began in 1849 and was provisionally completed two years later. The construction is still unfinished today. In 1876 the building was consecrated.
