Catherine Belsey

Catherine Belsey (born 1940 ) is a British Shakespeare scholar.

life and work

Belsey was a visiting professor at the University of Derby , a fellow of the English Association and a fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. From 1988 to 2003 she headed the Center for Critical and Cultural Theory at Cardiff University and taught from 2006 to 2014 at Swansea University. Her 1980 book Critical Practice is considered an influential post-structuralist contribution to literary criticism.
