Cayo Santiago , also known as Monkey Island , is an uninhabited island in the Caribbean Sea located 950 meters southeast of Punta Santiago, Humacao , Puerto Rico . It extends over 600 meters from north to south and 400 meters from east to west including the flat northeastern peninsula, which is only connected to the main island by a narrow sandy isthmus .
The island belongs to the barrio (municipality) Punta Santiago of the city of Humacao.
