Cement factory ODRA

The city of Opole Portland cement factory was established in 1906 conveniently on a limestone quarry and near the port of Sakrau . The share capital of the stock corporation, which in 1913 had an income of 480,000 Reichsmarks , was then 2,000,000 Reichsmarks. After the destruction in World War II , the factory was rebuilt, which continued until production was resumed with new systems and equipment from Czechoslovakia in 1951. The high demand for cement at the time of the reconstruction of many cities destroyed in the war resulted in high production volumes for the factory. As part of a privatization program, the ODRA cement factory was sold to Miebach Projektgesellschaft mbH in Dortmund in 1993 . A fundamental modernization in 1999 brought u. a. the conversion of clinker production from the wet to the dry process and the installation of modern and environmentally friendly systems.
