Ceralith describes a building material that consists of rye meal , rye bran , whey and two mineral components ( hydrated lime , water glass ). Ceralith is an insulating material that is suitable for pouring and blowing. It is open to diffusion and is said to be resistant to rodents , mold and insects , but in individual cases it has also led to problems when moisture has penetrated the insulation.

Ceralith and its production technology were developed by the Institute for Grain Processing (IGV).
