The Certificate Request Message Format ( CRMF , English for " Certificate Request Message Format ") is a message format for requesting digital certificates from a certification authority (CA). The request may be sent via a registration authority (RA). These units are part of a public key infrastructure (PKI) according to the X.509 standard .

The request typically includes a public key and registration related information.

Message format

Messages in the CRMF are "DER" encoded ASN.1 data structures.
