The Cerva CE.43 Guépard (French for: cheetah) is a four / five-seat monoplane touring aircraft developed in the 1970s by the French company Cerva .
History and construction
The aircraft is an all-metal version of the Wassmer WA-4/21 . The WA.4 / 21 prototype first flew in March 1967 and was a tubular steel construction with a fabric-covered fuselage and a plywood-clad wing. Wassmer decided to work with Siren SA to build an alternative all-metal version (the joint venture is known as Consortium Europeén de Réalisation et de Ventes d'Avions (CERVA)). The two planes have identical dimensions, although the new all-metal variant is heavier. The Guépard prototype first flew on May 18, 1971 . The aircraft was approved on June 1, 1972, and the French government then ordered five aircraft for the Service de la Formation Aéronautique (SFA) and 18 aircraft for the Center D'Essais en Vol (CEV). First deliveries to private customers followed in 1975, and by the end of production in 1976 43 aircraft had been produced, some of which had been modernized.
Two versions were later developed, the Cerva CE.44 Couguar with a 285 hp (213 kW) Continental Tiara engine and the Cerva CE.45 Léopard with a 310 hp (231 kW) Avco engine. Lycoming - TIO-540 engine. Their development was stopped in 1977 when Wassmer went bankrupt.
