Cetolite

As Cetolithen be fossil remains of the bony otic capsule (Intratympanisch) or fragments thereof of whales called.

These are fossil remains of the bullae osseae, typical of whales, as a fusion of the temporal bone and the tympanic bone , which are only loosely connected to the skull itself as a bubble-shaped bones ("auditory bladder") by ligaments and are detached from it during fossilization . Accordingly, they are often found as isolated bone fragments.
