Chant royal

The chant royal (king's song) is a poetic form of French medieval poetry, which consists of five eleven-line ballad stanzas.

Your rhyme scheme is [ababccddedE], with a five-line section according to the scheme [ddedE] or a seven-line section according to the scheme [ccddedE] finally ends in the refrain (E).

It was introduced into French poetry in the 14th century by Christine de Pizan and Charles d'Orléans; in England its form was taken up towards the end of the 19th century as part of a general revival of French stanza forms .
