Charlie (band)
Charlie is a British rock band formed in 1971 by Terry Thomas (guitar, lead vocals), Martin Smith (guitar, vocals), Ray Bulloch (bass) and Nicko McBrain (drums). The latter was replaced after a short time by Steve Gadd , who is not identical to the famous drummer of the same name. Also in 1971 John Anderson (bass, vocals) joined the band and replaced Ray Bulloch.
Career
In this formation (Thomas, Smith, Anderson, Gadd) the band recorded their first single, I Need Your Love , for Decca in 1973 . A second single, Knocking Down Your Door , was recorded but has never been released to this day.
In 1976 the band's first album - Fantasy Girls (Polydor) followed. After a few line-up changes, during which musicians Julian Colbeck , Eugene Organ , Shep Lonsdale , John Verity , Robert Henrit and Terry Slesser played for Charlie, and another seven albums, the band's history ended in 1986, although some top 50 Hits (especially in the USA , Germany , Japan and the Netherlands ) (including She Loves To Be In Love (1978), It's Inevitable (1983)).
All albums are now on the market as CD re-releases.
In June 2009 the band released a new album, "Kitchens Of Destinction". According to the band on the website, the album was initially planned as a solo album by Terry Thomas in the creation phase. After Julian Colbeck and Martin Smith also made contributions, it was decided to release the album as a new Charlie album.
