Charrette

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charrette is a high-proof rum that comes from the highland mountains of the French overseas department of Réunion . Its name is derived from the carriages with which the raw material sugar cane is transported. It is a popular specialty , especially in metropolitan France, and is now the second most popular rum there.

Charrette is generally said to have a very fruity and fresh taste.

On Réunion, charrette is mainly used to prepare a wide variety of rhum arrangés (rum made with fruits and spices).
