Chatia Dekanoidse ( Georgian : ხატია დეკანოიძე; Ukrainian : Хатія Деканоїдзе, ( Chatija Dekanoidse ); born January 20, 1977 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian or Ukrainian politician and former government official. She was Director of the Police Academy of Georgia (2007–2012), Minister of Education and Science of Georgia (July – October 2012) and Chief of the National Police of Ukraine (2015–2016).

biography

Dekanoidse graduated from the Tbilisi State University in "International Relations" in 1999 . She then went through advanced training at Central European University and the US research center Rand Corporation . At the age of 24, Dekonoidse took over the administration of the Security Council of Georgia from Mikheil Saakashvili . During her tenure as head of the Georgia Police Academy, she fired up to 200 teachers on the grounds that they had taught the students false theoretical knowledge. In her role as Minister of Education, Dekanoidse also headed the country's national examination center. In principle, it succeeded in centralizing the nationwide examination procedure and thus combating corruption.

After the change of power in Georgia in October 2012, Dekanoidze moved to Ukraine . Here she founded a public political center with the aim of shaping and implementing democratic reforms based on the Georgian model. She advocated a complete transformation of the political system in Ukraine.

After only a year as head of the National Police of Ukraine, Dekanoidze resigned from her post in November 2016. The reason she cited was corruption and thus the hopelessness of reorganizing Ukraine's security structure. In addition, she made serious accusations against Interior Minister Arsen Avakov , according to which he had always torpedoed her reform plans.

Following the resignation, Dekanoidze returned to Georgia, where her Georgian citizenship was restored in April 2017. She continues her political activity as a member of the opposition " United National Movement ".
