Chef de bar

Chef de bar is a job in the counter service that describes a management function higher than the bartender and is usually responsible for the other service staff as a superior. Outside of the hotel industry , the job titles bar boss or international head bartender are also common.

Barkeeper or bartender is - like Chef de Bar - not a recognized apprenticeship , but there are training and further education offers, for example certificate courses from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce .

Chefs de Bar are usually used for specialist and management tasks in companies in the hotel and restaurant industry. Depending on the structure of the catering establishment, the field of activity is partly congruent with that of the bartender in terms of serving drinks, mixing cocktails or serving snacks. The job requires social skills in relation to the guests and the service staff, organizational skills and business knowledge, for example in budget planning and calculation . In addition, a barman has a decisive influence on the external appearance of the bar and is involved in or responsible for the development or further development of the bar concept, the selection of drinks and marketing .
