Chiesa di San Giovanni alla Guilla is a church building in Palermo .

The church was founded in 1165 by the Sicilian Grand Chancellor Matteo d'Ajello (Matteo da Salerno). In 1182 it became the seat of the Order of Malta in Palermo. In 1669 the building was largely renewed, which was followed by further renovations in the 18th century.

Since 1960, San Giovanni has been the seat of the “Confraternita Maria SS. Addolorata e Christo Morto del Venerdi Santo”. The upper part of the facade with its arched windows has been preserved from the Romanesque building of the church in Via Beati Paoli. The lower area was faced at the beginning of the 18th century in the typical style of the Sicilian Baroque. This part of the facade in particular is in a poor state of preservation.

The interior of the single-nave church with a flat ceiling is kept rather simple. The most valuable pieces of equipment are two stone sarcophagi, of which the lid of one is provided with a male reclining figure.
