Chiesa di San Pio X is a Roman Catholic church building in Basel .

In 1952 the building of the Italian Mission was rebuilt together with a chapel at Rümelinbachweg 14. For reasons of space, the chapel was expanded into a church in 1962.

Furnishing

The chancel of the church is dominated by a gilded mosaic by Hans Stocker and Hugo Bré. The crucifix and a relief made of gilded bronze are by Remo Rossi . A bronze candlestick comes from Pino Sant'Elia. For the 100th anniversary of the mission, two wall elements by the painter Luigi Zonta with motifs of Pope Pius X. (who gave the mission its name) and the canonized Bishop Giovanni Battista Scalabrini were erected . Scalabrini is considered the father of migrants.
