China Metallurgical Group (MCC) is a Chinese company headquartered in Beijing . The company is a state-owned mining company that mines copper , iron ore, nickel, cobalt, zinc, aluminum and lead, among others .

At the end of 2007, China Metallurgical Group was awarded the contract by the Afghan government to exploit the largest copper deposit in Afghanistan . It is estimated that the Aynak deposit holds approximately 13 million tons of copper.

At the end of September 2010, MCC signed a contract with the Afghan government to build a railway line from Pakistan via Kabul to Uzbekistan. They also connect the Aynak mine, making it easier to export the copper ore. The construction costs are five billion US dollars and the route is expected to be completed in five years. The company then also wants to take over operational management.
