Sino-Japanese friendship and trade treaty.

The Sino-Japanese Friendship and Trade Agreement ( Chinese  中 日 修好 條規  /  中 日 修好 条规 , Pinyin Zhōngrì xiūhǎo tiáoguī , Japanese 日 清 修好 条規 , Nisshin shūkō jōki ) was signed on September 13, 1871 in Tianjin by Li Hongzhang and Date Munenari signed.

The treaty guaranteed the legal status of consuls and stipulated trade tariffs between the two signatory countries Japan and China .

The treaty was valid until the First Sino-Japanese War, which led to renegotiations and finally the Shimonoseki Treaty .
