Jaryschiw ( Ukrainian Яришів ; Russian Ярышев Jaryschew , Polish Jaryszów ) is a village in the Ukrainian Vinnytsia Oblast with about 1,600 inhabitants (2001).
history
The village was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1569 and was in the Bracław Voivodeship as part of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania until 1793 . Then it became part of the Russian Empire , and since 1991 it has been part of the independent Ukraine.
A wooden synagogue was built in the middle of the 18th century , which was destroyed in World War II.
geography
The place is located on the Lyadowa , a 93 km long left tributary of the Dniester , in the Mohyliw-Podilskyj district near the border with the Republic of Moldova . The town of Mohyliv-Podilskyj is located 20 km southeast of the village.
In addition to Jaryschiw, the district municipality with about 2400 inhabitants also includes the village Lyadowa (Ukrainian Лядова ) with about 800 inhabitants (2001).
