Chinese flute

The following are called Chinese flutes :

  • several instruments of traditional Chinese music including
    • the transverse flute Dizi (笛子; with membrane)
    • the flute Xindi (新 笛; modern, 21 holes),
    • the flute Koudi (口 笛; very small),
    • the longitudinal flute Xiao (簫),
    • the longitudinal flute Chi (篪),
    • the longitudinal flute Dongdi (侗 笛) as well
    • the panpipe Paixiao (排箫).
  • a collection of adaptations of Chinese poetry by Hans Bethge from 1912
