Chiriquí (people)

The Chiriquí were a people in western Panama whose culture is best known through various grave finds. In the graves there were fine gold figures , Tumbaga jewelry, painted ceramics and jaguar-shaped stones. They traded with these products as far as Yucatán , there are no residential buildings. The people probably went under at the end of the 19th century.
