history

The history of chivitos goes back to 1946. At that time, a traveler from the Argentine province of Córdoba walked into Antonio Carbonaro's bar late at night. Carbonero, who died in 2003 at the age of 87, was the owner of a pub in Punta del Este at the time , which was a meeting place for night owls and gamers. The guest asked for a quick, hearty meal. Since the kitchen was already closed, a new recipe was immediately created from leftovers, which is still very popular in Uruguayan cuisine despite its immense physiological calorific value .
