Chorley is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county Lancashire . The constituency was created back in 1885 and covers much of Chorley . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency was continuously represented by members of the Conservative Party from 1885 to 1945 . Since then, this party and the Labor Party have been taking turns at greater intervals. David Lindsay, 27th Earl of Crawford, represented the constituency between 1895 and 1913 . Since the 1997 general election , Chorley has been represented in Parliament by Sir Lindsay Hoyle , who has served as Deputy Speaker since 2010 and was elected Speaker of the House of Commons in 2019 .

The constituency had an unemployment rate of 2.8% in April 2013 .
