Chris Crawford
Chris Crawford (* 1950 ) began a career as a professional game developer in 1979 , initially at Atari .
In 1978 he published his first computer game Tanktics for the Commodore PET under the Avalon Hill brand , which was still a hybrid computer-board game. In 1984 he published The Art of Computer Game Design, a book on the development of computer games, which also contained a draft of a classification system for computer games.
In 1987 Chris Crawford founded the Computer Game Developers Conference (CGDC), which has been held annually since 1999 under the somewhat modified name Game Developers Conference .
