Christinen is a trademark of the Bielefeld family company Gehring-Bunte Getränkeindustrie GmbH & Co. KG and was first entered in the trademark register in 1966.

The Gehring-Bunte Beverages Industry GmbH & Co. KG is a beverage company. The third generation of business owners are Paul Gehring and Werner Gehring. Guido Grebe has been the company's sole managing director since 2018. The headquarters of the family company is in Bielefeld.

Brand and brand history

Natural mineral water extracted from a depth of 400 m has formed the basis for the Christinen brand and the entire product range since 1966. The company also sells the Christinen brand abroad.

The range is regularly adapted to the requirements of the market. This is currently reflected in the proportion of environmentally friendly reusable packaging, especially the high proportion of glass bottles.

The mineral water, which has been filtered through deep layers of rock for over 25,000 years, forms the basis of the product range, consisting of soft drinks, fruit juice and sports drinks. There is also a mineral water especially suitable for babies.

The products of the Christinen brand are available in different packaging shapes and sizes. The brand became known in its characteristic blue glass bottle. There is also an individual bottle specially developed for the catering industry, PET non-returnable and two-way bottles and Tetra Paks .

The share of returnable bottles is currently over 40 percent. In order to further promote sustainability in the area of ​​packaging, the reusable share is continuously being increased. In addition, the proportion of recyclate in non-returnable PET bottles has been increased to up to 75%.

Certifications and sustainability

In order to ensure the product quality of Christinen products, the company has itself and its products certified on a regular basis. These certifications include a. the International Featured Standard (IFS) for food safety, the BCS Öko certificate for the ecological quality of products, DIN EN ISO 14001 for environmental protection and DIN EN ISO 50001 for energy management.

Since 2019, Christinen has also had the quality seal for "premium mineral water with organic quality" from SGS INSTITUT FRESENIUS, which, in addition to water quality, also distinguishes sustainable social and ecological thinking and acting. In order to receive the seal, over 90 criteria are checked, which include, for example, the protection of the source, sustainable production and logistics as well as ecological and social commitment.
