Being Christian Today is the magazine of the Association of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany and is published by the SCM Bundes-Verlag (Witten). The 64-page magazine appears monthly and can be obtained by subscription.

history

Bundes-Verlag publishes the magazine for the first time on October 1, 1893, under the old title “Der Gärtner”. The journal is initially published every 14 days and costs 75 pfennigs every six months. Publishing director Friedrich Fries is responsible for the editing . On March 10, 1940, “Der Gärtner” and all other magazines from the Federal Publishing House are banned. On July 6, 1947, after the end of the war, the first “Gärtner” was published again, and after Christmas 1948 the other publications of the publisher were also approved by the British authorities. In 1992 the magazine was given its new name: "Being a Christian today".

Artur Wiebe is the editor-in-chief, who is also the head of media and public relations work for the Association of Free Evangelical Churches in Germany.

The main readership consists of members and pastors of the Free Evangelical Congregations (FeG). Being a Christian today serves as an information platform on which ideas, news and impulses from the various congregations are networked and exchanged. Each issue is divided into the sub-areas “Monthly Topic”, “FeG Forum”, “Impulse” and “Dialogue”. The FeG forum is also distributed free of charge to all FeG members nationwide every three months.
