Jesus.de (after Jesus Christ ) is a Christian internet portal. It is considered to be the largest Christian online community in Germany.

providers

The Jesus.de portal is operated by the SCM Bundes-Verlag on behalf of the Evangelical Christian Media Foundation .

offer

The target group of Jesus.de are Christians and people interested in the Christian faith, whereby an ecumenical profile is deliberately avoided by the church. The focus of the offer is on conveying Christian news in the form of an editorially supported portal, daily and weekly newsletters and RSS feeds . There is also a social network , a job exchange and a travel market.

Origin and development

Jesus.de was founded in 1996 as a search engine and web catalog for websites with Christian content. The founder and director was the journalist Rolf Krüger. In 2017, the journalist Daniel Wildraut replaced him on the line. In 2000 the website had 56,000 hits per month, with the database being the most used for sermons and interpretations of scriptures. In 2003 the portal was the largest German Christian online community with almost 50,000 members at the time. Today Jesus.de claims to have around 120,000 registered users who use its offers. Even under the assumption that a certain percentage of the registered users are “card holders”, this number of members makes Jesus.de “by far the largest Christian community in Germany”.

Cross-media collaboration

In 2004, Sven Hary and Rolf Krüger, in collaboration with Jesus.de, published the book Jesus.de - the web address book , which evaluated selected Christian Internet offers in a differentiated manner. The individual entries were provided with an identification system. Readers were not offered the valid Internet address of the websites discussed at the time, but a link to Jesus.de based on the identification system. These links have been kept editorially up-to-date in order to ensure that the Internet offers remain accessible even if the Internet address changes.
