Chronicon Bürglense
The Chronicon Bürglense is a Latin manuscript from the 12th century that describes the early history of the Bürgeln Propstei and the life of its founding family, the Lords of Kaltenbach.
history
In the library of the monastery of St. Blasien there was a scroll-shaped manuscript of Conradus de Sancto Blasio from the 12th century, which is lost today. There is also a copy made by the pastor of Holzheim, Ulrich Buck, in 1494. From these two documents, Rustenus Heer produced the text that he published in 1775 as an appendix in his work Anonymus Murensis denudatus et ad locum suum restitutus, sive Acta fundationis monasterii Murensis denuo examinata . Buck also created a German translation that is kept in the General State Archives in Karlsruhe .
It is believed that the chronicle was written between 1160 and 1180 by a Saint-Blasian monk named Konrad. Konrad could therefore have known Wibert von Kaltenbach (the son of the founder of the Bürgeln Provost).
