Chronicle of Petersberg
The Chronik vom Petersberg (actually Chronik vom Lauterberg , Latin Chronicon Montis Sereni ) is a manuscript about the history of the Augustinian Canon monastery on the Petersberg near Halle from 1225/30.
Origin and author
The chronicle was written in Middle Latin soon after 1225 . Its author, Konrad, was a canon on the Petersberg, details of his person have not been passed down.
content
The chronicle describes the history of the Augustinian Canon monastery from its foundation by the Wettins in the years 1124 to 1225. It also describes many events that affected the Wettins and the surrounding territories.
rating
The chronicle often presents the events in detail and thus gives very precise insights into what happened. Unfortunately, no other historical sources of this quality have been preserved from this region for this period. The representations generally seem to correctly describe the events. Obvious misrepresentations are not evident.
