The Chrysoskalitissa women's monastery ( Greek Χρυσοσκαλίτισσα , or η Μονή Χρυσοσκαλίτισας) is located in the area of the municipality of Innachori on the southwest coast of Crete on a rock that slopes steeply to the sea. It was built in the 19th century. Only a monk and a nun still live in the building and maintain it. Since only men are allowed to worship in the Greek Orthodox Church , it is not uncommon for a monk to stay in the women's monastery.

The holiday is August 15th with the Assumption of Mary .

The name "Chrysoskalitissa" means "golden staircase", as legend has it that the monastery staircase has a step made of pure gold, which only those who are without sin can see.

The monastery was involved in the rescue of the shipwrecked passengers of the Imperatrix in 1907.
