Attractions
At the east end of Church Island are the ruins of a church from the 12th century, a national monument with a Romanesque portal and the remains of the monks' huts. Eleven gravestones bear Christian symbols, two an inscription. Art-historical comparisons suggest that the stones were made in the 11th and 12th centuries. The foundation of the monastery is traced back to St. Finan Cam , who lived in the 6th century. However, no remains of the early foundation have been found so far. however, a poorly preserved rope cross was found.
St. Finan's Klause (a large clochan ) is located at the northern end of the island.
