Citadel Broadcasting Corporation was a privately held radio company in the United States . The media group owned over 240 radio stations across the United States and was the third largest private player in the US radio market after IHeartMedia and Cumulus Media. The company was based in Las Vegas , Nevada .

The company was founded in 1984 by Larry Wilson. On March 10, 2011, Cumulus Media announced that it would take over Citadel Broadcasting . After the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission had given their approval, the deal was sealed by Citadel Shareholders on September 15, 2011.
