Classic Coaster at Washington State Fair ( Puyallup , Washington , USA ) is a wooden roller coaster designed by John A. Miller and opened as a Giant Coaster in 1935 . In between, it changed its name twice to Coaster Thrill Ride and Roller Coaster , until it was finally renamed to its current name.

history

Originally the Classic Coaster was designed as a side-friction roller coaster, which means that there are no wheels under the rail and the train could lift off. The reason for this decision was that the trains of the Scenic Railway from Oaks Amusement Park , which was closed in 1935 or earlier, could be used.

After Walker LeRoy's restoration of the line in 1950, the Giant Dipper trains from Happyland Park , which was closed in 1947, were used.

Technical specifications

The 808 m long route reaches a height of 17 m and has a 16 m high first descent of 63 °. The trains reach a top speed of 81 km / h and a maximum of 1300 people per hour can travel with Classic Coaster .

Trains

Classic Coaster owns three Frederick Church trains with eight cars each. Two people (in a row) can be seated in each carriage. The trains operate under the names Ol 'Yeller , Blaz'n Blue and Or'nry Orange .
